Welcome to KidLit Cares, an online talent auction to benefit the Red Cross relief effort to help communities recover from Superstorm Sandy. KidLit Cares was started by the very awesome Kate Messner, but I’m taking over Round 2. Agents, editors, authors, illustrators and other generous people have donated various services to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with donations being made directly to the Red Cross disaster relief fund. Called a “born storyteller” by the media, award-winning author Marsha Diane Arnold has had 11 picture books published by Dial, Random House and Abrams. She visits thousands of students each year through in-person school visits and Skype. Visit her at http://www.marshadianearnold.com.

This auction contains a 30-minute Skype chat with your library or classroom plus her brand new PRANCING DANCING LILY book app to be launched in November. Date & time will be mutually agreed upon by the winner and Marsha after the auction ends.

Lisa Amowitz is an artist and graphic designer by trade, but writing has always been a deep and abiding passion. As a mom of an actual teen, she’s not just writing YA; she’s living it.

Stephanie Greene is the author of early chapter books, chapter books and middle grade novels. Her books have won an ALA Honor, Gryphon Honor, Best Book of the Year from SLJ, Bank Street College, and been one the Children’s Pick list in many states. She is a graduate of the Vermont College MFA program in Writing for Children’ & Young Adults.

The winner of this auction will receive a critique and line edit on up to 50 pages of a chapter book or middle grade novel, including a cover letter that will cover narrative arc, conflict, characterization and dialogue.

Bev Katz Rosenbaum, a popular freelance editor, is a former in-house editor at Harlequin Books and McGraw-Hill Ryerson. She is also a published author herself, of the Harlequin ‘Flipside’ novel Wanted: An Interesting Life, and the Berkley/Penguin young adult novel I Was a Teenage Popsicle, both currently available in all digital formats. Rosenbaum has also written a number of essays on various popular culture phenomena for Smart Pop Books. She created and teaches a children’s writing course at Centennial College in Toronto, where she lives with her husband and two children, and is hard at work on some new adult and teen romantic comedies.
