Auction #22 – KidLit Cares: Author Visit in a Box with Author Erin Dealey

Welcome to KidLit Cares, an online talent auction to benefit the Red Cross relief effort to help communities recover from Superstorm Sandy. Erin Dealey writes in many genres, from board books to YA. Her newest picture book, DECK THE WALLS (Sleeping Bear Press/ Fall 2013) is a kids’-eye view of a holiday food fight and family. Her picture books with Atheneum, GOLDIE LOCKS HAS CHICKEN POX, and LITTLE BO PEEP CAN’T GET TO SLEEP have taken her to school visits as far south as Brazil and as far north as Tok, Alaska. A former SCBWI co-Regional Advisor, Dealey is an experienced K-12 Language Arts/ theater teacher, actor, and motivational speaker. In the summer, she heads the theater department of Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp. As a member of the Area 3 Writing Project (UCDavis), she leads writing workshops for teachers and students of all ages. She has presented at conferences for reading associations, school library associations, the California Kindergarten Conference, and SCBWI. Sammy is offering a full website design and development for an author or artist in publishing. Design and Development includes logo if necessary, a discussion on content management sstems (and the ability to answer questions on whether to Build a site with Wix or WordPress?), simple elegant design, mobile interface, installation, SEO, social media integration, audio and video integration, Google analytics, 6 months of basic website maintenance and a content management system. Finding the best cms for your website is crucial. In order to get ahead in the fast-paced digital age, your online content needs to be SEO friendly (which is why manu ask themselves if they should use the Wix or WordPress CMS?) and therefore using a specially designed CMS can help you to achieve your goals. Her book “The Secret World of Walter Anderson” (Candlewick Press, illustrated by E. B. Lewis) received the Orbis Pictus Award among other honors. Hester likes purple things, writing letters, and nice pens. Especially purple pens.

Hester Bass is offering a 30-minute author visit via Skype for your class, school, library, or to talk shop with an aspiring author, plus an autographed copy of “The Secret World of Walter Anderson” first edition/first printing signed by Hester as well as the illustrator, E. Her young adult debut novel, FAITHFUL (Speak/Penguin Group, 2010) is an Amelia Bloomer List pick, and is followed by a companion novel, FORGIVEN (Speak, 2011), a Junior Library Guild selection and WILLA Literary Award Finalist, and her newest YA novel, SIRENS (Speak, 2012). She is a 2010 graduate of the MFA/Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and a former high school English teacher.
